About Maxine

 Maxine Eilander has always had a passion for teaching and education. Her teaching career began while she was still a student at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in the early 90’s. Maxine started her teaching career teaching piano and theory at a private school for under privileged children in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she grew up, before moving to Europe to further her own skills as a harpist and keyboard player at the Hochschule für Kunste in Bremen, Germany.

After moving to The Netherlands in 1998, she taught private piano and harp lessons through the International School in the Hague.

She has appeared as a soloist performing on various baroque harps with many leading ensembles throughout Europe and the USA. She currently maintains regular performances with Pacific MusicWorks in Seattle, and Boston Early Music Festival. Maxine has recorded on many labels including ECM, Analekta, ATMA (including her solo CD called ‘Handel’s Harp’).

Maxine moved to Agua Dulce in 2022, and enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. She is also adjunct professor of historical harps at the Thornton School of Music, USC.
